Objectives: To assess juvenile related problems and issues in the Longford/Granard Garda districts.

To assess problems and find their source.

The Juvenile Liaison Officer meets with the families of young offenders to find common ground or interests. The purpose of this is to get the youth into the Juvenile Diversion Programme.

Supporting Restorative Justice in working with victims, their families as well as the offender.

Services: Juvenile Diversion Programme:
Aimed at young people under the age of 18 years. The purpose of the office is to prevent youths entering into the Criminal Justice System.

Work closely with the LEAP Project, Earls Street, Longford in preventing crime and anti-social behaviour in youths (age 12-18 years).

Support for the Families:
Provide information, support and advice to the families of young offenders.

Supervision:
For 12 months after the juvenile receives his/her formal caution or informal caution (where the Juvenile Liaison Officer calls to the juveniles home and issues a caution), the Juvenile Liaison Officer will visit the family on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
