Funding: Department of the Enviroment through Longford County Council.

Objectives: To significantly influence local government in relation to the community & voluntary sector.

Services: To provide a Forum for Community and Voluntary Groups to network, build linkages, consult and be consulted on a wide variety of topics relating to the Social, Economic, and Cultural Development of County Longford.

*To facilitate people to empower themselves through collective participation in Local, Voluntary, and Community Development.

*To foster in particular, the inclusion of groups and organisations with a focus on tackling disadvantage and social inclusion.

*To act as a nomination body for the Community and Voluntary sector in County Longford.

*To support new and existing groups, to secure resources in order to meet the needs identified in local communities.

*To act as a Forum for the sharing of common issues, ideas and interest.

*To provide a bridge for the exchange of information between local communities, statutory agencies and non-government bodies, National and International.

*To facilitate the involvement of local communities in policy development and participation in community development at local level.

*To become a strong and effective pillar in all policy areas with appropriate representation on all relevant bodies.

Special Services: The Forum is essentially the representative voice of the Community and Voluntary Sector at County level. It would aim to support the work of this Sector in agreeing policy positions on issues of concern to the Community and Voluntary Sector.

The Forum would aim to provide a two-way exchange of information and ideas between the County Development Board, SPCs, Area Committees, other relevant Bodies and the Community and Voluntary Organisations affiliated on the Forum.
